Karthik Balasubramanian

Karthik Balasubramanian PMP, CISSP
President

Karthik has 25 years of experience as a Technology Consultant and Architect for various private sector companies and government agencies. Most recently he was the Technology Director of a large software project (~$12M/yr) in SRA and successfully helped obtain CMMI Level 3 rating and ISO 9001:2008 certifications for SRA and the project.  Karthik also previously founded iBiz Systems LLC, a high end technology consulting firm that helped companies like Costco implement their first e-commerce solution. He saw the need for a company that provided independent advice to the CIOs, Program Managers, and Project Managers in the federal government that was technology/platform agnostic and provided mission critical solutions that are reliable and scalable.

Karthik has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science and also holds the following certifications: PMP, CISSP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Microsoft (MCSD for .NET, MCSD, MCDBA), Oracle  (OCP DBA), and CompTIA (Security+).

Vice President of Business Development and Capture Management

Mr. Martin Joined Karthik consulting in July 2018 after 37 years’ of worldwide experiences as a Business Developer, Capture Manager, Executive Director, Senior Program Manager and Engineer supporting the United States Department of Defense on a variety of operational requirements including support to Army Sustainment Command on the GPMSS and PBOSS logistics programs at multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations; supported CENTCOM programs on AFCAP and NETCENTS Task Orders providing infrastructure support for OEF telecommunications equipment at Manas Kyrgyzstan; managed Air Traffic Control and Equipment Maintenance Systems (ATCALS) in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan on an AFCAP Task Order; provided In-side/Out-side cable plant and Information Technology IA support at Keesler AFB, Biloxi Mississippi as Hurricane Relief on another AFCAP Task Order; and supported the US Air Force and Foreign Military Sales Programs for F-16 Aircrew Training Devices and Maintenance Training devices in Germany, Spain, Venezuela, Taiwan and multiple CONUS locations.

Since 2009 Mr. Martin has been responsible for the Business Development and Capture Management process with a concentration on the US Army and US Navy accounts. His services also included Program Management, Systems Engineering and Cybersecurity support. His focus is to support requirements identified by PEO IEW&S, PEO C3T, PEO EIS, and PEO AMMO for the US Army and support US Navy SPAWAR Atlantic on the Seaport-e IDIQ vehicle. As Business Developer/Capture Manager Mr. Martin’s responsibilities include: identifying, assessing, targeting qualified opportunities, positioning, capture and pre-proposal preparation; work in partnership with the Corporate Executive Team, Business Analysts and the Proposal Managers to develop discriminators, win themes and implement a strategy for winning opportunities.

Mr. Martin speaks many languages. He is fluent in English, French, and Spanish, He is also familiar with German, Turkish, and Mandarin Chinese

Todd J. Sodeman

Todd J. Sodeman
Vice President of Operations

Mr. Todd J. Sodeman is the Vice President of Operations. He brings 30 years of extensive domestic and international leadership experience to his role focused on improving the overall operational efficiency and revenue growth in the public sector.

Prior to joining Karthik Consulting, Mr. Sodeman served as the President of a prominent defense contracting firm where he developed and executed the company’s strategic plan and advanced the company’s mission and objectives while simultaneously diversifying operations. Todd’s strong working knowledge of the Federal/DoD budgeting, acquisition, and procurement processes resulted in successfully capturing and delivering on a myriad of Federal Government contracts in support of the United States government and its global war on terrorism.

Prior to that, Mr. Sodeman served as the Corporate Director of Sales for Duron Inc. He was instrumental in creating sales and profit growth with a focus on new markets, which resulted in the company doubling in size in five years. This accomplishment strengthened the company’s balance sheet and was ultimately acquired by a major international brand.

In 1992, Inc. Magazine and Ernst & Young selected Mr. Sodeman as the "Entrepreneur of the Year" in the Mid-Atlantic region under the Business Growth category.

Todd is a founding member of Bo’s Effort and was elected as President of the Board of Directors in 2017. Bo’s Effort is a local non-profit established to increase awareness and assemble community resources to break the stigma of mental illness.

Jim Annulis

Jim Annulis
Vice President of Engineering

Jim Annulis has 25+ years of experience working on large-scale federal and commercial projects, with expertise in the biometrics industry. Over the course of his career, Mr. Annulis has served in a variety of roles which showcase his unique blend of technical and business skills. He has participated in the full development lifecycle for multiple products, from inception to operations and maintenance. Furthermore, he has experience in all architectural layers, including: web services and interfaces; business logic and microservices; data architecture, to include tiered storage; interfaces to third party apps and devices (e.g., biometric matchers); and integration with external systems at the federal and international levels. His experience includes the migration of major systems from on-premises data centers to modern cloud platforms. Additionally, he has supported business opportunity pipelines – helping to identify, track, and respond to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs. He has worked directly with customers, has negotiated and managed contracts, and has estimated and managed budgets and schedules. Mr. Annulis has performed work in accordance with various methodologies – including agile (Kanban and SAFe) and DevSecOps. He is a skilled writer who has authored numerous technical documents as well as business slicks and whitepapers. He has managed small and large teams, including technical and non-technical resources.

Mr. Annulis’ primary area of expertise is developing identity management solutions (cloud-based, cloud adjacent, and/or on-premises) to process real-time transactions, including interfacing with end users and third-party systems such as biometric matchers (e.g., fingerprint and facial recognition operations). The biometric solutions that he helped pioneer ultimately provided a method for the positive identification of subjects encountered by end users in a national security context. He supported the development of front-end client apps, client/server interfaces, server-side processes and services, and the supporting backend data architectures.
