I. Program Overview

Program Description

This program supports the design, implementation, sustainment, and optimization of secure cloud infrastructure capabilities in Azure to enable reliable, scalable, and compliant mission and enterprise operations. The effort includes Azure infrastructure engineering, hybrid connectivity, network architecture, infrastructure automation, security integration, monitoring, and performance optimization across cloud and hybrid environments. The program is intended to provide robust cloud foundations that support application delivery, operational resiliency, secure access, and enterprise modernization objectives.

Program Objective

The objective of this program is to deliver secure, scalable, performance, and operationally sustainable Azure cloud infrastructure aligned to mission, enterprise, and security requirements. Success is measured by effective implementation of Azure infrastructure and networking services, reliable hybrid connectivity, strong automation through Infrastructure as Code, improved visibility and monitoring, adherence to security and compliance requirements, and consistent support to resilient cloud service delivery.

Program Scope

Includes Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, governance, hybrid cloud connectivity, firewall and application delivery configuration, infrastructure automation, CI/CD integration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security compliance support. The program may include support to virtual networks, network segmentation, ExpressRoute, VPN gateways, private endpoints, load balancing, DNS, routing, alerting, logging, and cloud infrastructure documentation in support of secure and resilient cloud operations.

II. Position Overview

The Azure Cloud Engineer provides hands-on engineering support for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Azure cloud infrastructure with a strong emphasis on networking, hybrid connectivity, automation, and secure infrastructure delivery. This role is execution-focused and is intended for a technically strong engineer who can work independently while collaborating effectively across applications, infrastructures, and security teams.

The position supports Azure infrastructure services across compute, storage, networking, identity, and governance and is responsible for helping deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud environments. The individual in this role should bring deep Azure networking expertise, practical Infrastructure as Code experience, and the ability to troubleshoot and improve complex hybrid cloud environments involving routing, latency, DNS, firewall configurations, and secure enterprise connectivity.

This is a hands-on cloud engineering role rather than a lead or management position. The Azure Cloud Engineer is expected to contribute directly to implementation, infrastructure improvement, automation, security alignment, and operational sustainment in environments that may require compliance with DoD, NIST, FedRAMP, or related enterprise security requirements.
