Operations Lead

Position Summary:

The Operations Lead provides senior-level operational support to Headquarters United States Air Force A2OI by integrating leadership priorities, tasking, reporting, and execution activities across the organization. This role translates leadership intent into action, synchronizes civilian and military staff efforts, maintains visibility across ongoing efforts, and helps ensure leadership remains informed, prepared, and positioned to make timely decisions. The position requires strong judgment, executive-level communication, responsiveness, and the ability to influence execution across multiple teams and stakeholders without formal supervisory authority

Program Scope & Description:

Support the Air Force ISR Digital Infrastructure Transformation by improving execution, synchronization, and mission-aligned decision-making across data, automation, AI, networks, cloud, enterprise services, and cybersecurity efforts. Includes battle rhythm management, ETMS2/TMT tasking oversight, executive front office coordination, weekly reporting, cross-functional synchronization, workflow improvement, and leadership support required to maintain alignment, accountability, and execution.

  • Salary Range: $145K- $165K

Key Responsibilities

Operational Integration

  • Translate senior leadership guidance, priorities, and decisions into executable actions across the organization.
  • Provide day-to-day operational integration support to civilian and military personnel to maintain alignment with mission priorities and leadership intent.
  • Maintain visibility across ongoing activities, competing demands, execution dependencies, and emerging requirements.
  • Anticipate operational needs and proactively initiate actions to support leadership objectives and maintain execution momentum.

Battle Rhythm and Task Management

  • Design, maintain, and continuously refine the organizational battle rhythm to align meetings, deliverables, decision points, reporting requirements, and leadership engagements.
  • Oversee ETMS2/TMT or successor tasking processes to ensure tasks are received, assigned, coordinated, tracked, and completed within established suspense dates.
  • Maintain visibility into task ownership, status, dependencies, execution risks, and overdue actions.
  • Enforce accountability through follow-up, escalation, status review, and coordination with responsible staff elements.
  • Review tasking responses for administrative completeness, formatting, coordination, and leadership readiness prior to submission.

Leadership and Front Office Coordination

  • Coordinate and prepare leadership for engagements with senior Air Force leaders, front office stakeholders, higher headquarters personnel, and other high-level participants.
  • Ensure briefing materials, executive actions, decision points, and follow-up activities remain aligned with leadership priorities and emerging requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal teams, senior leader front offices, higher headquarters, and external mission partners to support clear communication and coordinated execution.
  • Manage action flow associated with high-visibility engagements and ensure decisions, commitments, and follow-up requirements are tracked through completion.

Executive Reporting and Decision Support

  • Direct the development, coordination, quality review, and submission of recurring organizational reporting, including the Weekly Activity Report and senior leader updates.
  • Maintain accurate visibility into organizational priorities, execution status, significant activities, risks, dependencies, and issues requiring leadership attention.
  • Standardize reporting practices, templates, and workflows to improve consistency, clarity, timeliness, and decision usefulness.
  • Synthesize information from multiple teams and functional areas into concise, leadership-ready reporting and decision-support products.

Organizational Effectiveness and Cross-Functional Synchronization

  • Serve as a central synchronization point for ongoing initiatives, emerging priorities, organizational actions, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Integrate activities across staff elements, technical teams, mission partners, and functional organizations to strengthen unity of effort.
  • Identify operational gaps, inefficient workflows, coordination challenges, execution bottlenecks, and emerging issues affecting mission performance.
  • Develop and implement practical improvements to workflows, coordination mechanisms, communication practices, and organizational processes.
  • Facilitate resolution of cross-functional issues and elevate risks, conflicts, or decisions requiring senior leader involvement.
  • Influence execution across multiple organizations and stakeholders without relying on formal supervisory authority.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, Management, Organizational Leadership, Communications, Political Science, International Affairs, Government, a STEM-related field, or equivalent experience.

Professional Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), optional
  • Certified associate in project management (CAPM), optional
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, optional
  • Security+ or other relevant certification, optional

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in executive operations, headquarters support, organizational integration, program management, operations management, or similar functions.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders in government, defense, intelligence, or other high-visibility mission environments.
  • Experience managing battle rhythms, executive tasking, reporting processes, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Experience working with ETMS2/TMT or comparable action-tracking platforms.
  • Experience translating leadership priorities into executable actions across multiple teams.
  • Experience operating effectively in fast-paced environments with competing priorities and compressed timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Headquarters Air Force, Air Force A2, DoD, or Intelligence Community headquarters operations.
  • Experience serving in a chief of staff, executive officer, action officer, strategic integrator, or comparable headquarters support role.
  • Experience coordinating with senior military leaders, SES personnel, and higher headquarters staff.
  • Experience managing Weekly Activity Reports, executive updates, or similar recurring senior leader reporting.
  • Experience coordinating with senior military leaders, SES personnel, and higher headquarters staff.
