Karthik Consulting is seeking five Mid-Level Software Testers to support testing and quality assurance activities for a complex enterprise Payroll application in a fully remote, U.S.-based role.

The salary range listed for this position represents a good-faith estimate of the current compensation range for this role.
At Karthik Consulting, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range. Final compensation decisions are based on the facts and circumstances of each candidate’s experience, qualifications, certifications, clearance level, contract requirements, and overall alignment with the role.
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000 annually.
Employees may be eligible for company benefits and additional compensation programs, subject to company policy, contract requirements, and individual eligibility.

Testing Scope
Testers will validate software functionality, support test planning and execution, document results, identify defects, and ensure compliance with USPS Technology Solution Life Cycle standards.
What You’ll Do
As a Mid-Level Tester, you will work closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Define, document, analyze, execute, and interpret system integration tests for a complex Payroll software application.
- Review business and user requirements and develop comprehensive test plans.
- Create and maintain test data required for testing activities.
- Transform test plans into detailed, repeatable test scripts.
- Execute test scripts and document results within tracking and reporting systems.
- Analyze test outcomes, identify defects, document findings, and provide recommendations supported by test evidence.
- Ensure testing procedures and results comply with USPS Technology Solution Life Cycle (TSLC) standards.
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and validate resolutions.
Testing Activities Include
- Smoke Testing: Verify critical functionality after deployments and releases.
- Regression Testing: Ensure new enhancements do not negatively impact existing functionality.
- End-to-End Testing: Validate complete business workflows and user journeys from start to finish.
- Functional Testing: Confirm application features perform according to documented requirements.
III. Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in technology, software development, or software testing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing manual and automated testing.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
- Experience executing manual tests and identifying opportunities for automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- High attention to detail, particularly in identifying discrepancies that could impact payroll accuracy.
Payroll Knowledge Preferred
Candidates with payroll testing experience are highly desired, including knowledge of payroll cycles and processing, tax calculations and withholdings, benefits administration and deductions, garnishments and bonus calculations, gross-to-net payroll calculations, new hire onboarding and HR integrations, payroll simulation and paycheck generation, termination and final pay processing, retroactive pay and salary adjustment calculations, federal, state, and local payroll regulations, and basic payroll accounting concepts.
Desired Technical Skills
- Agile Scrum methodologies and SDLC best practices.
- DevSecOps environments.
- VersionOne or similar Agile project management tools.
- PLSQL.
- Payroll systems and processing platforms.
- AI-powered testing and development tools.
- AI/ML platforms such as Copilot, WatsonX, ReDux, or similar.
- Mainframe technologies strongly preferred.
AI-Driven Testing Experience
Candidates should have experience leveraging AI-enabled tools that generate or accelerate test script development based on requirements, user stories, or existing application behavior.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Technology, Software Development, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates without a relevant degree may substitute an additional two years of relevant professional experience.
